Falcon Heights, Minn. - Despite finishing 20th out of 24 teams at the NCAA Midwest, hosted at the University of Minnesota's Les Bolstad Golf Course, Northern Illinois assistant cross country coach Mark McConeghey could not help but notice the strides that the Huskies had made from the Mid-American Conference Championships. "It was a great regional race," McConeghey said. "The turnaround from conference to today, was phenomenal. The girls were disappointed with their performance at the MAC Championships, but not discouraged. It was the best race of the year. The improvement that they have made from the beginning of the year until now has been great." NIU junior Mia Supanich-Winter (Libertyville, Ill.) was the first Huskie to cross the finish line, earning a 88th-place finish of 23:21.32.
