DeKALB, Ill. – With the first day of spring still a few days away, Northern Illinois University Athletics on Wednesday announced the dates and locations for the 2016 Huskie Summer Circuit, the annual “tour” that brings NIU Athletics head coaches and staff in contact with fans and alumni throughout the region.

The Huskie Summer Circuit, which made its debut in 2014, will make four stops during the first week of June, beginning at its newest location, The Trophy Room in Chicago (Wednesday, June 1). The Huskies will be at Chandler's in Schaumburg on Thursday, June 2 and return to Franchesco's in Rockford (Monday, June 6) and Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora (Tuesday, June 7) to close out this summer's events.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. each evening of the Huskie Summer Circuit. At each event, fans will hear from NIU Associate Vice-President and Director of Athletics Sean T. Frazier and the head coaches from each of the Huskies' 17 sports programs, including football's Rod Carey, Mark Montgomery of men’s basketball, women's basketball coach Lisa Carlsen and volleyball coach Ray Gooden.

Frazier said he looks forward to seeing many Huskie fans and alumni at this year’s Summer Circuit events.

"I love heading out on the Huskie Summer Circuit with our coaches and meeting the passionate NIU fans and alumni each June," Frazier said. "Going out on the road to these locations and engaging with our fans one-on-one is a great opportunity for all of us to tell our story and spread the news about what we have going on at NIU Athletics. This year, I want to encourage all of our fans and alumni to come out, meet me, our staff and our coaches -- and bring a friend."

Each stop on the Huskie Summer Circuit will have music, appetizers, a cash bar and a raffle for great prizes like tickets to NIU sporting events, Huskie apparel and more. Attendees will hear from Frazier, Carey and all of the head coaches in group and individual settings. Information on purchasing football and volleyball season tickets and becoming a donor to the Huskie Athletic Fund will be available.

Huskie Summer Circuit stops are open to everyone. Register in advance to attend any of the four Huskie Summer Circuit events for just $10, or pay $20 at the door each day. NIU is coming off an 8-6 season in 2015 that saw the Huskies win their sixth consecutive MAC West Championship and play in a bowl game for a MAC-record eighth consecutive year. The Huskies lost just 13 seniors off the 2015 team and return six All-MAC players from a year ago, including first team All-American cornerback Shawun Lurry and Freshman All-American offensive tackle Max Scharping. NIU opens 2016 spring football practices Tuesday, March 22 with the Huskie Bowl Spring Game scheduled for Saturday, April 23 at 2 p.m.
