The section includes links to a daily newsstand, online chats, feature stories and interviews, game-day and multimedia information, promotions, calendars and much more. We hope this will become your first and last stop everyday for all the information you crave about Huskie Athletics!

SENEGAL NOT ALL SUNSHINE AND RAINBOWS

As great of a time Huskie trackster Kaylee Walters is having in Senegal, in her third entry she points out some of the "not-so-good" things she's seen in her time there. Here's a snippet of what she's seeing every day:

"When we were walking in town we gave the pizza to two talibe children. The aggression, fear, and desperation in their eyes and behavior was heartbreaking--they quite seriously yanked the pizza from our hands without even knowing what it was yet. When they started fighting over the box of unknown contents, I yanked it back and told them to share, and luckily they obeyed."

PAIN?  NO PROBLEM!!!

Jordin Hood is pictured here after his second home run against Milwaukee at Road Ranger Stadium.

Thanks to the Quincy-Herald Whig for this feature on NIU junior third baseman Jordin Hood.  Despite playing with an injured thumb, as Hood told Matt Schuckman, "If I can grip a bat, I can play."

KEEP IT IN THE FAMILY

Another member of the Huskie football family is moving toward a career in athletic administration, after it was announced that Gwen Poore, the wife of NIU wide receivers coach Pat Poore, will take over as the athletic director at Elgin High School.  Read the Courier News' story HERE

AN ALL-STAR LINEUP

Incoming freshman Tony Nixon, the lone member of head coach Ricardo Patton's 2009-10 recruiting class, will compete in the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) Class 1A/2A Senior All-Star Game on June 27 at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Ill., on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University.

Also, Perez Ashford, who hails from Shaker Heights, Ohio, caught one pass for 13 yards in team Ohio's 38-31 victory over Pennsylvania in the 52nd annual end-of-year classic at Hersheypark Stadium.  Read a recap and view both team and individual statistics.
