Week's Achievements: Hammerschmidt turned in an impressive two-day performance over the weekend at the Northern Intercollegiate , tying for 25th overall and second among NIU's squad with a 227, +14 score. The junior from Westerville, Ohio, used a strong Sunday to move up 21 positions on the leaderboard, which included five birdies on the back nine in the second round. As a team, Hammerschmidt helped the Huskies place eighth overall after slipping past Akron by one shot.
Week's Achievements: Dekkinga highlighted a successful weekend for the Huskie women's tennis team as they opened the fall season at home with the NIU Invitational. She teamed up with teammate Nelle Youel to win the Huskie doubles bracket in convincing fashion. After taking down Eastern Illinois' Annie Egan and Kristen Laird in the first round, 8-2, the duo toppled another NIU doubles squad consisting of Ilse Pacheco and Arantza De La Torre by the score of 8-2. In singles, sophomore went 2-1 en route to the consolation championship in the Black bracket.
