Scholar Athletes of the Week (October 14 to October 20)

DeKALB, Ill. - Each week, NIU honors two student-athletes that exemplify the concept of the "student-athlete" supremely well. These students excel both in the classroom and on the playing field. This week, the honorees are football's Aidan Conlon
and women's soccer's Amy Carr.

NIU Scholar-Athletes of the Week (October 7-October 13)

Position: Right Guard Position: Goalkeeper
GPA: 3.08 GPA: 3.72
Major: Industrial Management and Technology Major: Kinesiology
Week's Achievements: Conlon started the game against Central Michigan for NIU at right guard. He, along with the rest of the offensive line, helped the Huskies accumulate 437 yards on the ground. The largest beneficiary of the play of Conlon and crew was Jordan Lynch, who rushed for 316 yards in the game. In the passing game, Conlon helped protect the quarterback on 30 attempts, not allowing a single sack. Week's Achievements: Amy Carr had back-to-back career performances over the weekend. On Friday, against Miami (Ohio), she tied her career mark for saves in one game with nine. On Sunday, against Ball State, she set a new career high for saves in one game with 11. Carr was responsible for several crucial saves during the two games which kept NIU in the games. One save came during the first overtime period against Ball State when she grabbed a penalty kick to keep the score tied.
