MEN'S HOOPS STAFF REVEALS NBA FINALS PICKS!
By Brett McWethy | Posted at 3:44 pm on Thursday, June 3, 2010
The votes are in, and not surprisingly, it's split down the middle. Three coaches picked the Lakers, and three went with the Celtics. We can reveal that Sundance Wicks was VERY CONFIDENT about his pick of Kobe and the Lakers closing things out in five games. Enjoy the hoops, and I'm sticking with my pick of the Celtics in six, which isn't the most popular pick in our office today.

By Brett McWethy | Posted at 9:31 am on Wednesday, June 2, 2010
Larry English, NIU's 2009 first-round draft pick of the San Diego Chargers, will return to his high school stamping grounds this Saturday for the Cadets Youth Football Clinic at Marmion's Fichtel Field. He'll be accompanied by Northern Illinois University's football coach, Jerry Kill.
NBA FINALS PREVIEW: SCHWAN REMEMBERS RONDO
Former Northern State letterwinner Kyle Schwan (pictured at left), NIU's current video coordinator, played against Rondo in college.
By Brett McWethy | Posted at 9:27 am on Thursday, June 3, 2010
On the day that the NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers kick off (FINALLY), we have a connection between rising star Rajon Rondo and Kyle Schwan, Northern Illinois' men's basketball video coordinator. In Schwan's playing days at Northern State, under Don Meyer (the winningest coach in NCAA Basketball history), Schwan and his teammates played against Kentucky and Rondo at Rupp Arena in an exhibition game. Schwan and his teammates remember the experience in this article in the American News.
For the record, I'll go with the Celtics in six games. We'll try to get the men's basketball staff's prognostications and share them with you on Huskie Happenings later today.

There will be more on this on NIUHuskies.com tomorrow, but the Daily Herald's Lindsey Willhite got the scoop of the year when he paid a visit to the Yordon Center today to interview NIU coordinators Tracy Claeys and Matt Limegrover. Willhite came out to DeKalb to interview the two for a preview story he was working on and got the news that defensive end Jake Coffman has changed his mind and will be returning to the team for his senior season. Again, check back to NIUHuskies.com Thursday for more details on Coffman's return to the Huskies.

Hard to believe it's been almost two years since the launch of the current format of NIUHuskies.com. Most schools within the CBS College Sports family re-design their sites every two years, and we're no exception. Be on the lookout for a new, improved version of NIUHuskies.com in early September. Huskie fans, if you have any improvements you'd like to see, we're always open for suggestions. You can e-mail us HERE.
