Week's Achievements: Pat Sloan played all 90 minutes and netted the opening goal in a 3-0 victory over Bowling Green and the NIU men’s soccer team improved to 11-4 and clinched NIU a berth in the Mid-American Conference Tournament. The goal was the fourth of the season for the Lisle, Ill., native, his second during conference play. All four of Sloan's goals this season have been game winners.
Week's Achievements: Mary Kurisch was solid all weekend in the middle for NIU as the Huskies went 2-0, thanks in part to the junior's 27 kills (3.38/set), team-high .431 attack percentage and nine blocks (1.12/set). She also added five digs, three assists, and two aces. Helping NIU to a 3-1 road win over Eastern Michigan, she put together on of her best matches of the season with 15 kills on 24 swings with no errors for a healthy .625 attack percentage, adding four digs, three blocks, two assists, and an ace for 17.5 points. She matched her point total the next night in a 3-1 win at Central Michigan with 12 kills, a season-high tying six blocks, and one dig, ace and assist. Her nine blocks were the most she's had in a conference weekend this season, as were her 35 points and 27 kills. On the year, she has had 10 or more kills on six occasions and multiple blocks in all but two of 26 matches.
