Week's Achievements: Xavier Silas continued his high scoring trend, averaging a team-best 21.5 points per game in NIU's two contests. Averaging 31.5 minutes, the senior also piled up four steals, three assists and two rebounds, while shooting 53.8 percent from the field (14-for-26), 37.5 percent on three-pointers (3-for-8) and 85.7 percent from the free throw line (12-for-14). Against Boise State, Silas scored nine points, grabbed one rebound and tied a career-high with three steals in 31 minutes, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. The point total snapped a streak of four games with at least 22 points. Versus DePaul, Silas went off for a career-high tying 34 points, marking the third time in the last four games that he had reached his career high. He also added a rebound and steal apiece and a season-high tying three assists while shooting a proficient 70.6 percent on field goals (12-for-17), 50 percent on three-pointers (2-for-4) and 80 percent on free throws (8-for-10). The fifth game at 22 points or better raised his scoring average to a nation's fourth-best 26.3.
Week's Achievements: Kim Davis averaged 12 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 64.3 percent from the floor. She scored a career-high 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting in NIU's 71-64 road win against Northern Iowa. Davis added six rebounds and an assist, and hit 5-of-6 free throws against the Panthers. She also scored nine points, grabbed seven boards and dished out three assists at Illinois-Chicago.
