Week's Achievements: Mathew Sims played a major role in Northern Illinois’ thrilling 41-38 win over Ball State on Nov. 15. With eight seconds remaining, Sims connected on a 34-yard field goal to vault the Huskies over the rival Cardinals, who had led the game by 17 points midway through the third quarter. In addition, Sims also made a 23-yard field goal with 2:46 left in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 38, while converting on all five of his PAT attempts in the game.
Week's Achievements: Courtney Shelton put up two double digit scoring performances during the past week to help the Huskies garner their first two wins of the season. On Wednesday, Shelton scored 17 points and dished out six assists in NIU’s 91-84 double-overtime win against the Western Illinois Leathernecks. In that game, Shelton was three-for-five from three-point range, scoring Northern’s only baskets from beyond the arc. The senior followed that up Sunday with 10 points in a 58-52 win over the Temple Owls.
